Snakeshead Fritillary

This has always been one of my favourite flowers. I always thought that they were called snakeshead fritillarys because the pattern on the flower resembled snakeskin, but when taking this photograph some new flower buds nearby made me realise that the unopened flower heads do actually look just like a snake's head.
