Cranborne Chase I
I am lucky enough to live in the middle of the Cranborne Chase and West Wiltshire Downs AONB. It is a beautiful area and contains some of the best chalk downland in the country.
The steep downland slopes have never been cultivated other than for grazing and so are covered in a rich variety of wildflowers. This provides wonderful habitat for butterflies and insects.
However Cranborne Chase isn't just downland. It also has wonderful woodland filled with ancient trees and wildflowers, as well as clear chalk streams that spring from the chalk.
I have lived in this area for over twenty years now and I hope this gallery will give you a taste of the diversity of this Area of outstanding natural beauty.
