Oak Trunk

As I walked past this oak trunk caught my eye because it was like a landscape in minature. The mixture of the bark, ivy, moss and lichen creates a landscape in its own right.

Oak trees support more than three hundred different types of insect, more than any other type of tree in Britain. When you see three other species just living on this square foot of bark you can understand why.
